Having attended PunchedCon and Unfurl Your Banners, as well as playing the occasional wargame at Beyond Monopoly, I wondered whether there was an appetite for a meetup of wargamers in the Yorkshire and wider area. So here we are and hopefully this is the start of a regular series, maybe two or three times a year. This doesn’t mean I won’t still go to Beyond Monopoly and the conventions, and I encourage you to go too.
“I have not the particular shining bauble or feather in my cap for crowds to gaze at or kneel to, but I have power and resolution for foes to tremble at.”
― Oliver Cromwell
Who
I first played Afrika Korps with my brother in the 1970s. We played many more Avalon Hill games (badly) in my teens but, like a lot of gamers, lost interest in hex-and-counter games as life moved on. I did play a lot of sports simulation board games in the 1990s and was a member of several play-by-(snail)mail leagues. More recently, I’ve played in a number of online sports simulation leagues.
I returned to playing war games, and the like, since Covid and my retirement in 2023.

Why the fancy website?
The domain name cost me £8.40, I already have a web hosting account and I’m happy to build a small website to keep all the content in one place.
But, I’m happy to keep the conversation going on the BGG thread.
